An Italian Public State University founded in 1981 and started its academic activities in 1982. It is located in Potenza and in Matera, inside a region of Southern Italy – the Basilicata Region – well known for its cultural, touristic and agricultural vocation.
The University of Basilicata is organized into four Departments – i.e.: Natural Sciences; Economy; Literature and Philology; and a fourth inter-disciplinary Department located in the City of Matera – and into two Schools, i.e.: the School of Engineering; and the School of Agricultural, Forest, Food and Environmental Sciences (SAFE).
Scope of the work of this latter SAFE School is focused on every didactic and scientific aspect connected with agriculture, forestry, food technology and environmental management. Within the SAFE School of the University of Basilicata, a specialized research group – active from more than 35 years – covers all scientific and technical topics related to farm buildings (structure, architectural design, building material, climatization plants, energy, agricultural waste management, etc.), as well as the analysis, planning and management of rural land.
This group, working at the Laboratory of Farm Buildings and Agro-forestry Land (CORTA Lab), has developed during time well-recognized scientific and technical competences in the field of analysis, planning and management of rural land, landscape and environment, GIS and spatial analysis. It has also developed several scientific and technical activities, gaining experience in the areas relevant for this project, in advancing the skills of agricultural workers and agricultural extension staff through the development of new curricula and teaching programs, that integrate in a practical way the latest developments in agricultural applied research.

ISARA, school of agricultural, food and environmental sciences offers a professional engineering program (MSc degree) and master programs, and carries out research and extension. The School emphasizes the thrill of scientific investigation through hands-on work, with an excellence on Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems. With 120 permanent staff and over 200 academic and professional lecturers, ISARA trains around 1100 students each year (650 BSc and 400 MSc students). Research and extension activities at ISARA are developed in different research units or by the extension group.
The Agroecology and Environment research unit involves different research and expertise on agroecology, plant science, soil science, ecology, and landscape ecology.
The main research topics are agroecology, organic farming, low-input farming systems, agroecological practices, biodiversity of farms and biodiversity management, ecological corridors, water quality, and management of drinking water catchments.
The unit Laboratory of Rural Studies focuses in its research on short supply chains, food quality labels, stakeholder networks, knowledge production and transfer, agri-environmental measures, and territorial development, and collective transition toward agroecology

As the leading public university in Europe in continuing education the University for Continuing Education – Danube University Krems (UWK) is specifically focused on inter- and transdisciplinary educational approaches for dealing with complex societal challenges and in different sectors. Innovative educational methods are part of all courses.
Danube University Krems bears the AQ Austria seal of quality in compliance with the Austrian Federal Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Especially the Department for Knowledge and Communication Management (WUK), is a university-based Competence Centre for research, practice and further education. The University of Energy and Natural Resources as a public institution seeks to provide leadership and management of energy and natural resources and be a centre of excellence in these critical areas.
The University approaches its programs and research emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and taking into account, areas such as economics, law and policy, management, science, technology and engineering as well as social and political issues affecting energy and natural resources.

UAES, a unique innovation with mandate to improve knowledge and create a sustainable agricultural practice in Imo State and Nigeria in General. The Ag. Vice Chancellor who is an Agricultural Economist on resumption initiated the above slogan which has since become a lingo for staff and students, as all are mandated to donate, plant and nurture a fruit bearing tree within the University community.
The team involved in the AGRECOFARM Project is a mix of seasoned, mid-career and young academics, researchers and administrators with the requisite technical know-how for the project.

Njala has experience an integrated, zero waste, climate smart agriculture through recent initiatives such as the ENABLE project and developing a course on organic agriculture in conjunction with GTI.
Curriculum development and pedagogy has been strengthened by the activities of the recently concluded SPHEIR project funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).
