General objective
The wider and long-term general objective is to achieve sustainable agriculture in the project region, implementing a new agricultural production system, funded on the concept of social, economic and environmental sustainability, able to be replicated all over the sub-Saharan region.
Specific objectives
- Support the joint efforts of EU – Africa to tackle climate change effects (e.g., biodiversity loss, natural habitats alteration, landscape degradation), to meet the SDGs and the objectives of Paris Agreement on climate change, ensuring food/nutrition security and decent livelihoods.
- Identify optimal combinations of agroecological practices that increase the climate change mitigation and adaptation of different farming systems in different agroecological zones in Africa, while ensuring the financial viability of businesses.
- Increase end-user adoption and implementation of agroecological practices by farmers supporting rural communities, ensuring farm resilience and viability at individual and system levels. Strengthen transdisciplinary research and integrated scientific support for relevant EU policies and priorities (EU strategy for Africa, Green Deal objectives)
