This ambitious project aims to develop a new MSc program in agroecology and transform African universities into hubs of excellence for sustainable agricultural innovation and community resilience.
Each phase of the project, known as a “Work Package” (WP), focuses on specific objectives and key activities to ensure the overall success of the project.

Work Package 1Project Coordination and Management

This WP concerns all project management activities and its objectives are as follows:

  • To ensure the overall progress and on-time delivery of project activities and results in line with the assigned budget and work plan during the lifetime of the project.
  • To coordinate the consortium and monitor the work of each partner within effective management and communication mechanisms.
  • Monitor the financial expenditures of the project consortium periodically.
  • To report the progress of the project to the EU Project Officer.

Work Package 2Identification of similar curricula/modules in West Africa

This WP covers research, analysis and other preparatory activities for the creation of a knowledge base for the implementation of new master and VET courses in each African partner HEI. This includes the:

  • Identification of curricula on new agroecological practices and agroecology for product-based food systems in West Africa.
  • Identification of existing VET courses in the project’s area.
  • Identification of academic and labor gaps and needs.
  • Mapping the agricultural companies’ availability for student’s internship.

Work Package 3Capacity-building and Curricula development

This WP covers:

  • Study visits to Europe by African partners to acquire conoscence and best practices to apply to the development of specific curricula in their HEIS.
  • Development of new MSc program on agroecology and sustainable agriculture issues.
  • Development of VET courses.

Work Package 4Academic staff training and preparation for delivery

This WP refers to the collaboration of African academics with leading experts in their field from Europe to update their skills and knowledge and be ready for the delivery of the new MSc program in their respective universities. It also covers:

  • The development of training material.
  • The establishment and set up of the AGRECO Labs in the three African countries.
  • The setting up the internship program and building lasting synergies with the relevant industry.

Work Package 5Accreditation and delivery of the courses

This WP represents the final phase of the project covering in particular:

  • The accreditation process of the new MSc program.
  • The final delivery of the course.
  • Monitoring and final evaluation of the program delivery.

Work Package 6Quality Assurance, Monitoring & Evaluation

Regards the evaluation and monitoring process of the project in terms of processes and results. This includes:

  • Development of project quality assurance and evaluation plan.
  • Evaluation of training material.
  • Evaluation of vocational trainings.
  • Evaluation of project’s public dissemination events.

Work Package 7Dissemination, Exploitation and Sustainability of results

This WP covers all dissemination and exploitation of the results necessary to ensure the sustainability of the project and the successful implementation of the activities.
Therefore, it aims at:

  • Disseminating the project activities to targeted stakeholders and to the widest audience.
  • Promoting food safety and quality practices.
  • Ensuring sustainability of the major project’s results through the appropriate exploitation planning.
  • Promoting a further development of the AGRECOFARM curriculum.
  • Enhancing the dissemination and growth of the established partnership between European and African HEIs and other stakeholders involved throughout the project.
